Make Money Online Testing Video Games
| Are you an avid gamer? If video games comprise a significant portion
of your life, then testing video games might just be the best thing for
your employment needs. You'll find that you can make money and earn a
significant living through this method, but you will have to apply
yourself. Testing video games is not quite the same thing as playing
the finished, polished product. It requires dedication, determination
and, above all, the desire to help create the best, most immersive
experience for the end consumer. What might you find yourself doing
for game production firms? •Playability – The term "playability" is a bit vague, but there are few more apt descriptions of this essential aspect of a game. Playability refers to the coherence of a game, the smoothness with which the various aspects of the game come together and how "playable" the game actually is. In essence, everything that you will test for will come down to how it impacts the playability of the game in question. •Storyline – Almost every game has a storyline of some sort. Obviously, most sports games lack a significant storyline, but almost every other game out there, from Warhammer to Halo, from the Final Fantasy empire to World of Warcraft and Earthworm Jim, hinges on the storyline. Part of your duties will be to ensure that the storyline comes together as a whole, to determine where gaps, inconsistencies and problems lie with the storyline and more. •Game Play – The process of game play can win or lose gamers to an amazing extent. How easy is it to use the in-game menus? How simple is it to access character abilities/weapons/etc? Do the effects of the accessed ability/weapon equate to what is expected? You will need to help the developers and programmers streamline game play as much as possible. •Code Correction – There are always bugs in code; it's simply the nature of the beast. As a game tester, part of your job will be to locate these bugs, whether they're keeping the world map from displaying, preventing you from earning experience for each kill you make or hindering the healing of your character. Some bugs might be "overall," while others might be "local" (i.e. affecting your character during only a very specific part or location of the game). Regardless, with game testing, you can make money and find it to be very rewarding, but it can also be very demanding. The process of playing a specific part of a game repeatedly, to determine if errors have been corrected, can be onerous. However, for the rabid gamer, few things can compare to the potential of this job type. | |
